The Kings lost 4-3 to the Chilliwack Chiefs, as the Chiefs swept the best-of-seven Mainland Division series in the BCHL playoffs.
The winning goal for the Chiefs came on a power play with 20 seconds left in the third period, capping a three-goal rally by the Chiefs, who now move on to the double round-robin portion of the playoffs, meeting the winners of the Island and Interior divisions.
After the Chiefs scored nine minutes into the first period, the Spruce Kings got a goal from Braiden Epp with two seconds left in the frame, the first time the teams had been tied after the opening goal in any game in the series.
Epp then gave the Spruce Kings their first lead of the series when he scored a shorthanded goal halfway through the second period. Michael Buonincontri made it 3-1 with a power-play goal with less than five minutes to go in the period.
That was it for the Spruce Kings offence, though, as Chilliwack stormed back in the third period to win the game, and the series.
