Several Prince George artists are joining their talents to help out at a CD release concert on April 18.

The CD is of piano pieces all related to nature, says piano teacher Lori Elder who came up with the idea of having the album’s release date coincide with worldwide Earth Day celebrations. Karma Vance, an artist for the Winter Games, Ruth Poell a Haiku poet and two photographers, Jeff Elder and Andrew Furmanczyk, are among the local artists who will be helping to sell the new CD after the concert.

“We are raising money to help complete the plank pathway at the Ancient Forest,” said Elder. “The tie in with the Ancient Forest has been incredible. One of the huge trees is pictured on the CD cover, it sold out so fast I’ve already had to reorder.”

The Caledonia Ramblers are working to complete the pathway, she said.

“They plan to apply for Provincial Park status, then for UNESCO World Heritage Site status. People in Prince George are really getting behind this cause, so we hope to raise the profile with our concert.”

The Piano Music for Earth Day Concert and Sale is on Saturday, April 18 starting at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church, 3555 Fifth Avenue.
