LETTER: Editorial provided racist comment
Editor:
I am dismayed, annoyed, and really bothered about your page 14 comments today.
Whose idea was this and what was your aim?
You overstepped your mark in a huge way (Free Press, June 23, Not worth the wait) with the paragraph: “Did it really take the federal government six months to determine it has nothing to add to the 209 conditions, other than tell Enbridge to offer affected First Nations some more beads and blankets.”
Excuse me? How dare you insert such a racist comment? I think you owe the people of Prince George, and especially those First Nations people, a big apology.
It’s amazing in the year 2014 that we still harbour bigots and racial-slurs.
I’m mostly annoyed at you, editor Bill Phillips, as I always enjoyed your comments and columns, and thought you had more savvy than that, but sir, you are just another farm-boy tosser.
I will make sure, from next Friday on, that no more of your newspapers come over our steps here.
Stan Hughes
Prince George
