It’s time for winter tires

Winter is just around the corner; we can feel it. Although some days are still fairly warm, we can feel the cold air at night. It won’t be long before the roads are covered with snow and ice. We all know what that means: it’s time for winter tires again.
If you have just purchased or leased a new car, or if your winter tires are worn out, it’s time to visit your local tire shop. Of course, you will be looking for tires that fit your budget, but you also want to get the best tires to save your car from an accident and, most importantly, to keep you and your passengers safe. Finding the right answer may cost you more than you expected to pay.
In other words, if you have to choose between a “good” tire for $75 and a “great” tire for $150, you will probably be attracted to the cheaper model. On the other hand, if the “great” tire can stop your car on an icy road some three to four feet faster than the “good” tire, have you considered that this shorter distance could prevent you from hitting another vehicle? Even worse, a child or a pedestrian? If you do hit another vehicle with the “good” tires, you will certainly have to pay the “deductible” on your insurance, which is probably more than the extra money you would have spent on the “great” tires. It’s something to think about.
