Kids with personality keep couple busy on goat farm

According to the Chinese Zodiac calendar, 2015 is the Year of the Goat. Trisha Gustafson and her husband, Brad, will have no trouble celebrating. The couple raises Chilako Nubian goats on their 160 acre “hobby farm” in the Mud River area – and there’s always plenty of live action going on. “Right now we have 22 Nubians on our farm. They’re like the ‘Jersey’ of the goat world and we just love their antics,” said Gustafson, who often photographs them. “They’re really fun to be around because...

Prize-winning photo? It could be with your help

Prince George artisan and animal lover Trisha Gustafson would like to win a photo contest. All she needs is a little help from her Prince George friends. The photo is of her favourite four-legged friends – some of the 40 or so little goats she raises on her hobby farm on Chilako River Road. “The photo was sent into a weekly online photo contest and it won – I don’t know who sent it in but then it was entered into one segment of the semi-finals and won that too,” said...

TransCanada serves up some breakfast

Ron Brent Elementary principal Carmen Eberle had a message for the students having breakfast in the school’s meal room Monday morning. “This is starting in January for all the classes in the school,” she told the class of Grade 1 students. “We’re offering a free breakfast every morning from 8:15 to 8:30. If you’re late getting to school, you can come by the office and get a slip, and you can still get breakfast.” Then she talked about some of the other people in the room. “I started talking...
