The old wear a mask that most never try to peel away. All that is seen is the wrinkles, the stoop, the arthritic hands and fading memories. No recognition of the past, the fights against racism, the battles with the elements and the war waged against workers by a ravaged economy. Elder is a position of respect in many cultures, but in the ‘civilized western world' elder is just a concept that is paid lip service.

Stage fright won't be the problem for the Lakeside Ramblers when they hit the Art Space stage. After all, this Cluculz Lake band is a regular on the festival circuit, carries the title bluegrass band of the year in B.C. and is a competition winner.

His first play was in 1959. It was 10 years later that Bill McFadden got paid to act. And in the 31 years since then, Bill has been plying his trade from coast to coast. But he's also been capturing experiences, tales and personalities that he can put into use at some later date.

He knows he has the good life. A career that he loves, a family and enough money to pay the mortgage. And Oscar Lopez never wants to take any of that for granted — which is why he loves to hit the road.
