Global warming is now accepted as a fact.
There are exceptions to the warming trend, primarily in our lovely province. When the denizens of Victoria and area start to complain about our summer to date, we know it is a bad summer.
Canadians have taken to formal gambling in a big way. Gambling has become a multimillion dollar generator of revenue for provincial governments. They have been aggressive in both expanding and protecting this lovely tax.
July 1, the birthday of our country, is probably the best holiday of the year. It doesn't get complicated with gift buying at Christmas or eating eggs purported to be laid by rabbits at Easter. We should all use the day, or several days, to celebrate what a wonderful place Canada is to live.
The riot following the final game of the Stanley Cup playoffs has raised the anger level of many people. Not just in the Vancouver area but throughout the province. The anger does not arise from this single event, but from the change in attitudes, particularly with some of our youth.
Many places add a description to their name reflecting something their community is proud of. One of the more famous is Paris France "City of Lights." There are many fishing capitals and various other descriptions of what those particular places the residents are proud of.
