One person has serious, life-threatening injuries following a collision between a vehicle and a transit bus Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on the Hart Highway, about a half a kilometre north of the John Hart Bridge, shortly before 3 p.m.

The single occupant of the vehicle was transported to the University Hospital of Northern BC by the BC Ambulance Service. Injuries are believed to be serious and life threatening. The bus driver was the only occupant of the bus and was not seriously injured.

The Prince George RCMP with the assistance of North District Traffic Services continue to investigate a serious collision that occurred in the City earlier this afternoon.

This portion of Highway 97 will be closed for at least a few hours.

Police say they understand how vital this segment of road is for traveling public and are doing everything they can to reopen the highway as soon as possible.

Northbound traffic is urged to take Foothills Boulevard or the on-ramp to Highway 97 off of the Cameron Street Bridge. South bound traffic must take Foot Hills Boulevard.

If you have any information about this collision, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300.
