If you haven’t taken part in the MyPG public consultation yet, you’ll have some extra time.
Due to strong public interest the public engagement period has been extended to Jan. 14, 2010. In addition the city will be entering the surveys and workbooks submitted into a draw for prizes. All information submitted between Oct. 26 and Jan. 14 will be eligible for a prize.
âExtending the community engagement period is very important in developing a shared community vision. The residents spoke and we listened, and this extension will generate more discussion and input to create MyPG,â Coun. Debora Munoz said in a press release.
The initial deadline for input was Dec. 16.
The city will provide online and hardcopy workbooks for any group which wants to host a “kitchen table talk” â”Â a small group discussion. The results of the discussion can then be sent in electronically or dropped off at City Hall.
Surveys will be available on the city’s Web site, www.city.pg.bc.ca, or in this Friday’s issue of the Prince George Free Press.
The goal of MyPG is to create a long-term plan for the city, focusing on creating a community which is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.
Once the initial public input is gathered, the myPG team will create a series of options and present them to the community for additional input sometime in early 2010. The goal is to have a final plan to present to city council in the spring, and begin making the necessary policy changes in the summer and fall of 2010.
âWith Christmas approaching, it is essential to extend this process as many individuals and organizations are extremely busy,” Coun. Murry Krause said in a release. “The goal of the engagement process is to gather as much information as possible from the public, and this extension will help support that.”
