CITY OF PRINCE GEORGE
CONSTRUCTION OF FISHTRAP ISLAND COLLECTOR WELL
Dayton & Knight Ltd provided engineering design services to The City of Prince George for the largest radial collection well in the Province. With the capability to withdraw 93 ML/day from an aquifer, this collector well provides water supply to the Hart/Nechako area of Prince George and provides a backup to their existing collector Well PW605.

FOOTHILLS BOULEVARD WATERMAIN PHASE II
Dayton & Knight Ltd. provided the design and construction inspection for approximately 3500m of 750mm pvc and 250mm ductile iron water main for the City of Prince George. The Foothills Boulevard Watermain will convey water from the 90ML/day collector well pump station, also designed by Dayton & Knight Ltd. to the new Zone A reservoir and Booster station to service the northern portions of the City. This is Phase II in a multiphase project.

BC Hydro Rehabilitation Project
After this crossing was washed out due to beaver activity in high flows, BC Hydro decided to stabilize and rehabilitate this crossing site by removing the culverts and improving fish habitat. The natural creek section was re-established and the fills were pulled back, seeded and replanted to prevent any further sedimentation. As well, large woody debris was added upstream to provide additional cover for resident fish. Design completed by DWB Forestry Ltd. in Prince George.
Canfor Fraser River Revetment and Fish Compensation Project
As a result of heavy erosion during the winter of 2005 along the banks of the Fraser River, Canfor PG Sawmill operations lost nearly 5m of the log yard along the river. In January 2006, an intensive revetment project was undertaken to prevent further erosion and loss of land along the river. Protection works included the placement of 26,000 m3 of riprap revetment including rock sculpting and spur improvement along the banks. As part of the project, a fish compensation project was completed. The compensation project was designed to provide increased and improved habitat in an off channel old gravel pit that has been used for habitat by Fraser River sockeye during high summer flows.

The work involved reconfiguring the arrival, departure, and frontage roads. Work also included expansion of the main parking lot and reconstruction of the existing parking lot.

Galore Creek Mine Access Road

McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd., working from their Prince George and Smithers offices, provided consulting services for the location, survey and design of a 130-kilometre access road through difficult terrain. The project included the design of over 60 bridges and major culverts. The project was one of the first in British Columbia to utilize the latest Civil 3D software. So new, in fact, that McElhanney staff worked closely in conjunction with AutoDesk, makers of the Civil 3D software in the development of specific modules needed for the road design.
