Women need to celebrate being women, says Robyn Stoy. She and Louise Browne were sipping tea at Cafe Voltaire Wednesday morning putting the final touches on the first Salmon Valley Woman’s Festival. Like any first-time festival event, there are last minute things to be added and kinks to be worked out.
“This event is about self-care, self-focus and self-growth,” Stoy said. “It’s about women coming together in sisterhood, sharing, friendship and celebration. There will be empowerment and creative workshops, meditation, manicures, entertainment, delicious food (by Temptations) and we’ll also be having a full moon honouring ceremony on August 16.”
Candace George is slated to dance, sing and do some storytelling, she said. There will also be tarot card readers, vendors and a give away table where people can bring something they are no longer using and pick up something new.
The 1st Annual Celebration of Women on the Salmon River in Prince George takes place on a Full-Moon Weekend, August 15, 16 and 17. No one under 18.
Inclusive weekend with food, workshops (choice of two) lodging, entertainment and one 30 minute body session Friday to Sunday is $200. Weekend pass (no lodging) is $160. Over 65 years, 25 per cent off. Women 70 and over are admitted free. For more information visit www.salmonvalleywomansfest.com or phone 250-971-2223.
