CNC postpones vote on program suspensions, public forum scheduled

The CNC Board of Governors has postponed a vote which had been set for the March 27 meeting regarding budget-related proposals.

The proposals would have seen new intakes of students into dental programs and the Aboriginal Early Childhood Education program.

In a press release, the school says the decision to move the vote is based on an overwhelming amount of considerable and thoughtful feedback regarding the potential program suspensions and changes in services. This month’s Board meeting, starting Friday, March 27 at 12:30 p.m. in the CNC boardroom, will be followed by a public forum from 2 to 4 p.m. in the lecture theatre (1-306), where groups and individuals will have the opportunity to present questions and concerns about the proposed changes. The vote itself will now take place during next month’s board meeting on Friday, April 24.

In accordance with Board Bylaw No. 6, those wishing to make a submission to the Board must apply to the Executive Assistant to the Board, Marlene Beaulieu, by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24. Applicants must provide a detailed overview of their presentation topic. Those approved for presentation to the Board will have 10 minutes to make their presentation. Presenters are also expected to answer questions from Board members. Please send submission requests to Marlene Beaulieu at [email protected]
