Party bus licensing tightened up

Relatives of a teenage girl who died of a drug overdose on a “party bus” applauded changes made Thursday to tighten licensing regulations for limousine operators. Transportation Minister Todd Stone announced an overhaul of limousine licensing that will require each limousine or bus with perimeter seating to go through its own inspection and hold a licence. This replaces a “general authorization” limousine licence that allowed party bus operators to work anywhere in...

Sunjai and Dougie make a deal

Some chocolate bars, like some hot dogs and all cute kids – are priceless. Especially when fundraising for a good cause is involved. Sunjai Anthony Sharma, 5, cinched a Dragon’s Den-worthy deal of a lifetime on Tuesday when he sold Dougie Luv of Dougie Dog Hot Dogs a chocolate bar for $100, proceeds of which go to the B.C. Playoff positions down to final Games

As the Prince George Spruce Kings prepare for the final weekend of the BCHL regular season, coach Dave Dupas sums up the situation simply. “We can still finish second,” he said Wednesday, “and we could still finish fourth.” The Spruce Kings’ fate is in their own hands this weekend, as they host the Langley Rivermen tonight (Friday) and Saturday at the Coliseum. Going into the weekend, Langley has 62 points, good for second in the Mainland Division. The Spruce Kings are third with 59 points...

B.C. ‘still on track for LNG exports’

A sharp drop in oil prices and continued low natural gas prices have led to reduced forecasts of drilling activity in Western Canada for 2015. In Victoria, critics of the B.C. government’s push for liquefied natural gas exports have begun to claim that delayed investment decisions by LNG producers are the beginning of the end for the industry in B.C. David Keane, president of the BC LNG Alliance, has worked for major industry players and now represents an association of seven...
