Highway 97 south of Prince George closed due to possible hazardous material spill

Emergency Services are currently on scene of an overturned tanker truck that is possibly leaking a dangerous chemical. At about 1:30 p.m., a member of the Prince George RCMP came upon an overturned tractor/trailer unit on Highway 97 near Bellos Road, south of Prince George. Six masked intruders assault man, who fights back, injuring two

Several masked people broke into a home on Blackburn Road this morning, assaulted a man inside, and fled in a stolen truck, police say. RCMP responded to the call of a break and enter in progress at about 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. Police believe approximately six masked suspects were involved. Fire fills apartment building with smoke

Fire forced residents of the Pineglen Apartments in the 200 block of Ospika Boulevard were forced out of the building this morning. Prince George Fire Rescue got the call just before 8 a.m. Sixteen firefighters from three halls arrived to find a small fire to the outside of the building. The fire was quickly extinguished however the entire building was filled with smoke. All tenants managed to get out safely. There are no injuries or damage estimate at this time.

Search on for B&E suspects in Blackburn area

Police are seeking the public’s help in locating suspects and a stolen vehicle associated with a break and enter this morning. At 8:36 a.m. the Prince George RCMP received a report of break and enter in progress at a residence on Blackburn Road, on the eastern edge of the City of Prince George. Crews with the City of Prince George worked overnight snow clearing in the Carter Light Industrial Area, and on priority one and priority two routes that needed additional plowing due to the recent snow event. Today, crews will be clearing in the orange and yellow zones, per the Garbage Collection Map. B.C. corks luxury tax for premium wines

The B.C. government has put a cork in its plan to charge a higher tax on higher-end wines. “Since we released our wholesale pricing model in November, we’ve heard concerns from the industry about the pricing structure for wines over $20 a bottle,” Justice Minister Suzanne Anton said Friday. “We are reducing the mark-up for this category – levelling out the wholesale price for wines that would have been impacted.” A major concern for wine stores and B.C....
