Countless committed volunteers deserve a round of applause and a pat on the back. On Sunday, May 29, the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF) held its first-ever, volunteer-led Great Stridesâ ¢ walk, in more than 30 locations across the country, and raised more than $500,000 to support the work of the CCFF.
Here in Prince George the resounding success of the inaugural Great Stridesâ ¢ walk was ensured by the incredible dedication and commitment of the local chapter’s volunteers. Everyone gave their all to make this a greatday for families, and a great success for the fight against cystic fibrosis. Along with the chapter’s satellite walks held in Tumbler Ridge and Ft. St. James, over $10,000 was raised.
The CCFF is grateful to the proud partners and corporate sponsors of the Great Stridesâ ¢ walk, including Hbc, Siemens Canada Ltd. and Kin Canada. Locally, we were supported by the Prince George Kinsmen, Tab Baker, Hbc, 101.3 FM, 94X, and Capital Sound.
Every dollar pledged to the Great Stridesâ ¢ walk will bring the CCFF one step closer to a cure for CF, a fatal and devastating disease. The Foundation is a world leader in the fight against CF. When the CCFF was established in 1960, most children with CF did not live long enough to attend kindergarten; today half of all Canadians with CF may be expected to live into their late 30s and beyond – a testament to the generous support of Canadians.
