In browsing through the April 23 Free Press I came across three separate items: The province is to give the City of Prince George $50,000 to investigate the possibility of twinning with a city in China. This at a time when essential education courses are being cancelled. A total of $330,000 for a jumbotron at CN Centre, just so that we can watch the Vancouver’ Olympics. What is wrong with our own televisions? And then, $550,000 for two new buses. I have yet to see a bus that is more than half full. Surely these items can wait. It is a very poor trade-off, luxury for education. Most families will put the basics, including education, before investing in things we would like to have. The total cost, so far, would certainly go a long way to reduce the deficit at the College of New Caledonia.
