Residents of the 2200 block of Spruce Street were awoken about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when shots rang out in the area.
Police report that a homeowner had been outside his residence and spotted a man lurking in his backyard. When confronted by the homeowner, the man threatened the homeowner, who then went back inside his home.
Seconds later two gunshots were fired, one of which penetrated a window and interior of the home. The two occupants of the house were not harmed.
About 15 minutes later police were called to the 2200 block of Upland Street, where residents reported seeing a man with a gun roving through the area.
Several police units converged on the area, including the Police Dog Services. A search was conducted and about an hour later, the Police Dog Services unit located a man matching the description of the armed suspect. The suspect was entering a vehicle belonging to a resident of the Upland Street townhouse complex.
The man was arrested without incident.
A loaded semi-automatic assault rifle was located and seized from the vehicle as well as other stolen items belonging to area visitors.
A 26-year-old Prince George man is in custody and the investigation continues.
