Shortly before 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Prince George Fire Rescue received a report of a group of people, including minors, stranded on an island in the Nechako River, across from Cottonwood Island Park.
Their boat had apparently run aground.
They had been stranded for an undetermined length of time, and hypothermia was becoming a concern.
Two crews responded, established the group’s location and determined a boat would be required for the rescue.
Local resources along with Prince George Search and Rescue provided a primary rescue boat and a backup craft.
Accompanied by two Fire Rescue Swiftwater team members, the primary boat rescued seven adults.
The RCMP also attended this incident.
