Work is set to begin in the next few weeks on a major makeover for the Ramada Hotel Downtown Prince George.
Ramada general manager Sam Kirsh said the remodel will include a new name for the landmark downtown hotel: the Ramada Plaza Grand Meeting and Conference Centre.
“By the time it’s complete, it will be the whole building. Everything will be refreshed and remodeled,” Kirsh said.
Phase one of the project will bring the lobby out closer to the street, he said. The $1 million project is set to be complete by December.
“There will be a Starbucks out front and centre. It’ll be a full-service Starbucks with seating,” he said. “It’ll be a nice, comfy place to come and have breakfast. It’ll open early and stay open late.”
The current businesses located on the main floor of the hotel will be relocated inside the building, he said, and the lobby area will be remodeled.
Phase two will be an interior renovation of the old tower, followed by the new tower, he said.
“The (last) phase will be the food and beverage areas and the meeting areas,” Kirsh said.
The renovated meeting areas will feature automated screens to separate rooms and updated presentation equipment.
An official launch ceremony for the renovations will take place later this month.
