Benson withdraws from trustee race
Kris Benson campaigned for a position as school trustee on a platform based on fiscal responsibility.
Now he wants voters to show that same responsibility by not voting for him.
Benson has served notice to chief electoral officer Fred McLeod, requesting his candidacy in the Nov. 19 election be withdrawn.
Benson has accepted a job offer in Edmonton, and would be unable to serve as a trustee in the district if elected.
In order to save the cost of a by-election, Benson is asking people not to vote for him in the election.
The final advance poll for School District 57 trustee elections is today (Nov. 16) for voters in Prince George, and runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Winter Garden at the University of Northern B.C. Polls are open at a number of locations in Prince George and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George on the general voting day, Nov. 19, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
