Federal funding for performing arts centre denied
This year’s P3 funding request on behalf of the performing arts centre was denied, however the city will work with the Performing Arts Society and put together another proposal for next year.
“In June the city submitted the application. The attached letter back indicated the project was not successful, but there is another anticipated intake in 2012,” said city manager Derek Bates at Monday’s council meeting.
The letter the city received from the P3 Canada Fund said after further development and the identification of other necessary funding sources there may be sufficient potential for the application to succeed as a P3 project in a future round.
Bates said after speaking with the society there will likely be something concrete for council to look at regarding the new proposal at the Dec. 19 meeting, in advance of council’s strategic planning meeting.
“The application deadline is likely the end of June,” he said.
