Flood reports put regional district on alert
Flood watch 2011 is now on.
Residents in low-lying areas along the Fraser River and its tributaries are being warned to prepare for potential flooding, according to a press release from the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.
Rivers are rising thanks to warming temperatures and recent rain, prompting the low-level activation Wednesday morning of the regional district's Emergency Operation Centre.
Residents in the Telachick Road area east of the city and the Salmon River area to the north, have already reported some localized flooding and bank erosion to the regional district ,which is asking people to stay away from potentially unstable banks near rising rivers and streams.
