Mr. PG crowned

They had a prize package (gifts and prizes from local sponsors, merchants and supporters), a performance, and a plan to win the coveted Mardi Gras Snow Daze title Mr. PG 2011. Alas, only one could win. Mr. October, Eric Geddes donned the black top hat and cane taking his rightful place on stage Friday night at the Coast Inn of the North.

This year's contest kicked it up a few notches with great choreography (Jana Phillips) more cowboys and fewer drag queens – with the exception of Brian Lundeberg, Mr. December, who "dressed for success" and had it pay off with $1,075 in auction money and First Runner Up title.

Mr. January, heartthrob Charles Amos stole the show with his own great vocals, guitar performance and song I Gotta Know. And Bobby Trippel (Ric's Grill) whose noted favourite animal is "ski bunnies" did a hip hop country number and was voted Mr. Congeniality by his fellow contestants.

Along with a wild crowd and wilder contestants, key to the event's success was the appearance of Jack "It's only money!" Ross from JC Auctioneers who auctioned off the contestants' prize packages, coaxing cash from its owners with his trademark wit. At the end of the night, the event had raised $7,275.
