Prince George-Mount Robson MLA Shirley Bond would like to encourage Prince George and Robson Valley residents to nominate local youth for the British Columbia Youth Parliament (BCYP).
“BC Youth Parliament provides an amazing opportunity for young British Columbians to develop their leadership skills in a very unique setting,” said Bond in a press release. “For 80 years, the BCYP has provided students with the tools they need to make a difference in their communities.”
Each year, 95 youth are elected to BCYP as representatives of their communities. The applicant must be nominated by an organization committed to youth such as a school, community group, club or church.
“I have attended BCYP as an MLA and I want to make sure that the BC Youth Parliament has representatives from all across B.C. Please take the time to nominate a northern student for this program,” said Bond.
BCYP’s Parliamentary Session runs from Dec. 27 to 31 at the Legislature in Victoria. All application forms must be received by Oct. 22. Selected applicants will be notified in early November.
