In mid-September each of the past three years, more than 100 volunteers collected several thousand pounds of food donated by Prince George residents for the Salvation Army Food Bank.
The B.C. Thanksgiving Food Drive began as a local effort by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Burnaby and expanded to other areas of the province, including Prince George, in 2011.
Now entering its fourth year in Prince George, the multi-faith project has expanded to include the Salvation Army and any other families who wish to participate.
This year the group hopes to increase the amount of food collected from last years 12,000 pounds, with a target of 15,000 pounds this year.
The 2014 event runs September 8-13.
The B.C. Thanksgiving Food Drive is a non-denominational project. For more information send an e-mail to email@example.com.
