A Fort St. James man was killed after a collision between a pickup and a logging truck on Highway 16 West early Monday morning.
Just before 6 a.m., the westbound pickup and the eastbound logging truck collided near the Chilako River Bridge, and the logging truck ended up on top of the pickup. The pickup’s driver and front seat were ejected from the vehicle, and the driver was found a short distance away.
He has been identified as 29-year-old Billy Jack Pierre of Fort St. James.
The pickup truck was extensively damaged, and the driver of the logging truck has shaken but uninjured, police said.
The accident closed the highway entirely for several hours. It opened to single-lane alternating traffic around noon.
