Shortly after 10:30 a.m., Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a fire in the 2600 block of Abbott Crescent.
Sixteen firefighters responded from three halls. On route, crews were notified that there were possibly six occupants in the dwelling.
On arrival, firefighters found two adults and four young children safely waiting outside. All occupants were assessed by BC Ambulance for smoke inhalation, and transported to University Hospital of Northern B.C. for further assessment.
Firefighters found heavy smoke throughout the single family house, and quickly determined there was a fire in a basement bedroom. They were able to knock down the flames quickly.
Crews were on scene for just over an hour clearing smoke and checking for fire extension.
While damage to the main floor of the home was limited to smoke, the basement sustained significant fire and smoke damage. There is no dollar loss estimate at this time.
Preliminary fire investigation suggests that the cause of the fire was accidental in nature.
