A recent letter, Please No More Studies, leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Like more than 20,000 citizens of Prince George live in the Hart and use the Cameron street bridge. My question is, can 20,000 people that already have two bridges have the tax payers provide them with a third bridge? I think that is where the problem is with the management of our city. The wheel that squeaks gets the grease. When we need to look at things from a realistic view and get out of the small town box way of thinking.
And I think that is what Dan Rogers is doing.
It is not up to the mayor to make unilateral decisions as is done presently. His job is to facilitate the council meetings and encourage debate. Dan Rogers is my kind of mayor, extremely knowledgeable, dedicated and not prone to make decision by popular demand. Dan’s decisions are logical and not attention grabbing like the airy-ferry debate on the hockey enforcers event.
Spend money on what? That’s what the present council is noted for. They are going to borrow 27 million dollars for a heating system downtown and other dumb projects. Is that how we want our money spent when the infrastructure of the city that we have is going to ruin and decay? Yes it’s nice to drive down from the Hart on a provincial highway but how about all of the city streets that are full of pot holes within the city.
And then there is the notion that perhaps the federal or provincial governments will kick in a few bucks to build the Cameron street bridge. Because its coming from a senior level of government it sounds like its coming from heaven. Well That’s not the case its still our tax dollars that are paying for a needless bridge be it federal or provincial money.
