From go-karts to hobby stocks Leadfoot Logan is revving his engine in anticipation of a great season.
My goal for racing this year is to win at least one race,” said Logan Jewell.
Eight years ago the 15-year-old took up go-karting and has since been making a name for himself in the need for speed business.
Oh, my dad got me into it definitely,” said Jewell with a smile. He’s always been into this kind of stuff and I just kinda followed.”
Not only is dad a fan of the leaden foot, but little brother Karson and mom Annette are avid fans and participants as well. In fact speed siren mom once took home the Ladies Champ title. And little brother is certainly following in the same direction.
A family affair,” said a laughing Jewell.
But the transition from the smaller, low go-kart of his past and the large, loud 250 V8 Camaro is a touch daunting, said Jewell. It’s quite a bit different and it’s taking some getting used to. The big difference is the size and sluggishness of the car. I’ve had to change my driving tactics.”
But with each passing race (he’s been in two so far) Jewell is finding the power of his Number 3 and the feel of the track is in his blood. We’re doing alright for our first year,” he said gazing at the shiny, red auto. It’s a learning curve, but it’s coming along.”
And the family would like to extend a huge thank you to all family, friends and supporters who have contributed to Jewell’s success and continuation of the sport he’s been born into. It’s been a tough year,” said mom. And we really appreciate everyone who has helped us out.”
Logan nods his head and smiles. He’s envisioning the checkered flag and all that goes with it.
It’s really just starting,” he said. I’m just beginning to take off.”
