Naked at the ‘Plex
The University of Northern British Columbia Undergraduate Student Society (NUGSS) presents its annual back to school backyard barbecue tomorrow at the Prince George Multiplex.
Topping the lineup is rocker Bif Naked, along with Opus Dei, Downstroke, and The Rascalz. It’s the ninth annual barbecue with tickets available at $22 for students and $27 for the general public. Doors open at 7:45 p.m., with the show starting at 8 p.m.
Tickets are available at the NUGSS office on the UNBC campus, or through Ticketmaster at Studio 2880 on Fifteenth Avenue.
Jazz piano, funky folk and more
Books and Company on Third Avenue in downtown Prince George will host a wide range of musical acts in the next few weeks with songwriter Kerry Grombacher in concert there tonight at 8 p.m. in Art Space.
Known for his contemporary folk and western songs, Grombacher logs over 55,000 miles every year driving from concert to concert. This is his first appearance in Prince George.
Jazz pianist Warren Raeville will appear in Cafe Voltaire Friday night, from 8 p.m. until 9 p.m. There is no admission charged for cafe performances.
Then at 9 p.m., Australian songstress Emma Wall makes a repeat appearance in Prince George, appearing in Art Space.
Tickets to Wall’s performance are also available at Books & Company for $10. On Sept. 17, Art Space will host Alfie Zappacosta for an evening of smooth jazz, and musical favourites. Tickets for Zappacosta are $18.
And on Sept. 20, Gerry Barnum makes a return to Prince George to play some original blues and his magic slide guitar, with tickets to that performance available for $10.
On Sept. 27, Art Space will host the Singer-Songwriters Showcase beginning at 7:30 p.m. Artists to appear include Brandon Lepage, Casey Prediger, Theresa Jordan, Downtown Dave and Karl Standeven. Tickets are $5 and available at Books & Company.
Smith, Funk and Strauss
The folk, jazz and blues sounds of Smith, Funk and Strauss will fill the Canfor Theatre at UNBC Sunday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available, $12 in advance, at Books & Company and the UNBC book store. Tickets will also be available at the door for $15.
